SPOKANE, Wash. — Police in Spokane are warning people who may have family members awaiting trial of a new scam circling around.
According to the city of Spokane, scammers are calling defendants and their families demanding money ahead of first appearance hearings. The scammers say if you do not pay, the person will be arrested.
Some scammers are even telling people that the court is no longer providing ankle monitors and instead using bracelets that look like Apple watches. The city says this is not the case, and the courts still use ankle monitors…
