As Jeanine Kusel cleans up Spokane’s public litter eyesores, she hopes to inspire others to help make the community better for all

Jeanine Kusel is cleaning up Spokane, one bag of trash at a time.

The 36-year-old mom to three daughters (and a surplus of pets), takes to the streets, roads and parking lots each week to tidy up trash-ridden areas around town.

Looking back on her childhood, Kusel recalls seeing the positive effect of her dad’s involvement in their community in Temecula, California, which planted an early seed for her passion for giving back. Kusel aims to continue this familial tradition, serving as a reliable and trustworthy community member just as her dad did. Since moving to Spokane in 2010, she more recently put her long held values into this labor of love and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon…
