SHOSHONE COUNTY, ID — The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that human remains recovered from the St. Joe River earlier this month have been identified as 24-year-old Chantel Williams of Deer Park, Washington, who had been missing since December 2025.
According to the sheriff’s office, the remains were discovered on July 5, 2026, in the St. Joe River. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified Williams through a comparison of dental records. Authorities said her family was notified before the identification was publicly announced.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, we extend our deepest condolences to Chantel’s family and loved ones,” the agency said in a statement. “While this is not the outcome anyone hoped for, we are grateful that we were able to provide answers and bring a measure of closure to her family.”…
