Classic corn dogs have a core place in many American memories, but the Korean version of the deep-fried dish takes it to another level. Swapping traditional cornmeal breading for a rice and wheat flour batter, K-dogs offer diverse fillings and toppings, like ooey-gooey cheese in place of a hotdog.
American eateries in other larger cities have gradually hopped on the K-dog concept, and Spokanites can finally get their fill at Izzie’s K-Dogs, which opened in April on the second floor of the Crescent Building at 707 W. Main Ave.
“I saw them when they first started getting viral,” owner Izzie Wayuono says. “Every time I would go to any other city … I would always look for Korean corn dogs just because I know we don’t have them here.”…
