The University of Northern Iowa Panthers traveled to Cheney, Washington, this weekend to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles. The two teams met last year at around the same time, with UNI winning 17-14. This year, Eastern Washington got their revenge, beating the Panthers 34-24.
UNI had a productive first half on offense, scoring 24 points in two quarters. Quarterback Nate Bell of Eastern Washington scored first with a 34-yard quarterback scramble. After a blocked point-after-attempt, the game started with a 6-0 lead for the Eagles.
The Panthers quickly responded after quarterback Jaxon Dailey found the end zone on a four-yard scramble. A shifty juke from Dailey put the defender off balance, as he waltzed into the end zone, making the game 7-6 in the Panthers favor. The Eagles didn’t take long to score again.
