SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane City Council says it passed a 5-2 emergency ordinance during Monday’s legislative session to protect some income-eligible tenants affected by the Spokane Complex Fires from eviction if they cannot pay rent.
Council members say the measure is sponsored by Kitty Klitzke, Sarah Dixit and Paul Dillon. They say it responds to the financial strain caused by the fires and takes effect as soon as it passes.
