Airway Heights K9 helped comfort families after Spokane Valley scare

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Airway Heights Police Department said K9 Tonks and Officer Illsley helped students and parents reunite after an armed individual prompted a response at Evergreen Middle School in Spokane Valley.

According to the department, the team assisted the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Spokane Valley Police Department at a nearby church during the post-lockdown reunification process. The department said the situation brought stress and uncertainty for students, parents and school staff.
