SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane city leaders were set to review four proposed ordinances that could raise utility rates for water, sewer, stormwater and solid waste in 2027 and 2028.
Council documents showed Spokane Public Works completed a cost-of-service analysis, with new rates proposed as a result through ordinances ORDC36951, ORDC36952, ORDC36953 and ORDC36954. The analysis determined what the city needed to charge to maintain service, operations, repairs and “financial stability.”
Under the first proposed ordinance, a single-family home inside Spokane city limits paying about $2.44 per 100 cubic feet this year would pay about $2.52 in 2027 and $2.61 in 2028. The basic monthly charge for a single-family home would also rise from $20.07 this year, to $20.77 next year and $21.50 the following year…
