One person killed, four hospitalized in head-on crash in northeast Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — One person was killed, and four others were sent to the hospital for a head-on crash between a semi-truck and a car early Wednesday morning.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, two adults in the semi were heading west on E. Bigelow Gulch Road near E. Weile Avenue around 5:30 a.m.

Deputies say the semi crossed the median and hit an Acura with three adults head-on.

The occupants in the Acura were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where one later died. The other two were last reported in critical condition.

The adults in the semi were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Speed and road conditions appear to factors in the crash.

SCSO says the road will be closed for several hours for investigation.
