Cathy McMorris Rodgers hosts roundtable on Gray, Oregon Road fire recovery efforts

SPOKANE, Wash. — Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) led a roundtable with local, state and federal officials to discuss recovery efforts following the Gray and Oregon Road fires that burned in Spokane County this past summer.

McMorris Rodgers spoke with community leaders and agency representatives to discuss the status of wildfire assistance and ongoing recovery efforts.

On Monday, McMorris Rodgers and U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) asked for an immediate update from the Biden administration on Governor Jay Inslee’s request for a major disaster declaration for the Gray and Oregon Road fires.

Both fires burned over 22,000 acres combined and destroyed a combined 336 homes.

It’s been almost five months since the tragic fires as community members discussed what still needs to be done on Wednesday.
