SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane Valley Deputy was injured after an impaired driver crashed into a deputy’s patrol car.
According to Spokane Valley Police Department (SVPD), deputies were investigating the scene of a hit-and-run on January 24, near East Broadway.
Deputies noticed a vehicle travelling at a high-rate-of-speed approaching.
The approaching vehicle crashed into the patrol car passenger side with a deputy inside the parked patrol car.
Deputies identified the driver as 63-year old Raymond T. Jones.
While being placed under arrest for DUI Jones became angry, addressing deputies with profanity.
According to SVPD, Jones also threatened to kill deputies and demanded they follow his commands.
A background check revealed that Jones had prior DUI convictions, but they were over ten years ago.
Jones is a convicted felon for Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree and Forgery.
Damage to the patrol car is estimated at $35,000.
Jones was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for DUI and Intimidating a Public Servant.
