Woman pleads guilty to deadly hit-and-run, gets 10+ years in prison

SPOKANE, Wash. — The woman who was charged with killing two people in a hit-and-run crash near Airway Heights last year pleaded guilty on Tuesday and was sentenced to over 10 years in prison.

Megan Skillingstad pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide with alcohol, alcohol with recklessness and failure to remain at the scene.

Skillingstad was sentenced to 129 months (10 years and nine months) in prison.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to an area near West Trails Road and North Flint Road, where they found a dead man and woman in a ditch nearby. During the investigation, SCSO found debris from a crash and a Washington license plate.

Later, SCSO says a caller reported a pick-up truck crashing in a ditch less than a mile away, identifying Skillingstad as the driver.

SCSO says Skillingstad was heading west on Trails Road near North Flint Road when she tried to turn and hit Desmond Miller and Kady Mcefron killing them both.
