New Chick-fil-A development faces hurdles in Spokane’s South Hill

SPOKANE, Wash. — A new Chick-fil-A could still be on its way to Spokane’s South Hill.

On January 24th, developers officially submitted a new proposal to the city. During Monday night’s City Council meeting, City Council passed an ordinance to ban drive-through businesses like Chick-fil-A in that area.

The newly passed ordinance would designate part of 29th Avenue from Martin to Fiske Street as a pedestrian street.

The proposed Chick-fil-A falls in that range, but the fast food chain’s South Hill future isn’t over yet.

The ordinance means that no new drive throughs can be built on that part of 19th, but because Chick-fil-A submitted all its documents before the ordinance passed, their plan is not over yet.

The developers behind the new Chick-fil-A say the fast food chain should be coming to the South Hill as long as they can get a permit.

A request that was submitted just a few days ago, this is the second time developers have tried to add a Chick-fil-A to this part of the South Hill.
