SPOKANE, Wash. – When you think of a food bank, you might think of non-perishable items like canned foods.
One Spokane business is working to redefine food insecurity with a farm-fresh process.
Four Roots joins forces with local farmers to bring fresh ingredients right to your dinner table. Their farm-to-table approach supports local farmers within a 400 mile radius of Spokane.
The business sells boxes comprised of nutrient-dense, fresh, and unprocessed goods. They also distribute food boxes to those in need through grant and contract programs.
In many boxes, you can expect a dairy item, protein, grain, and a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Four Roots has a series of upcoming distribution days:
- February 7 at 4 Degrees (4301 E. Day Mt. Spokane Road, 99021), 10am- 12pm
- February 14 in Spokane Valley (16814 E Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley 99037), 10 am-12pm
- February 28 at the Otis Orchards Library (22324 E Wellesley Ave, Orchards, 99027), 10 am-12pm
This year, Four Roots is also launching a farmer-centered public market in collaboration with the Spokane Conservation District, with plans to expand to more markets soon.
