Counselor Charged for Inappropriate Relationships with Drug Rehab Patients

A Spokane County agency-affiliated counselor has been charged with a patient enrolled in a court-ordered drug program, according to the Washington Department of Health.

In December of 2023, the DOH reports, agency-affiliated counselor Katelynn Elizabeth Dennis was charged with unprofessional conduct by the Agency Affiliated Counselor Program, the Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee Program, the Certified Behavior Technician Program, and the Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission.

Between August and November 2022, Dennis allegedly began intimate relationships with two different clients, according to the DOH.

In the summer of 2022, Dennis was working at Pioneer Human Services in Spokane when she began treating a client enrolled in a drug treatment program under orders from the Spokane County Superior Court, the DOH reports.

Dennis entered into a romantic and sexual relationship with the client and went as far as sending her client a nude video of herself, the DOH alleges. She allegedly told her client he would have to leave the drug program and would “get in trouble” if he told anyone about their relationship, the DOH reports.
