Toddler found dead in north Spokane home identified

SPOKANE, Wash. — The toddler who was found dead in north Spokane last week has been identified by the Spokane County Medical Examiner.

The medical examiner identified the boy as three-year-old Wesley Brenston-Studebaker. The cause and manner of the boy’s death is pending.

The Spokane Police Department says they responded to reports of an unconscious child at a home on north Ash Street and West Central Avenue on January 31, where Wesley was pronounced dead at the scene.

While SPD initially reported the death as not suspicious, officers arrested John L. Jones in Las Vegas, Nevada the following day. He was arrested for second-degree murder.

Jones waived his extradition in Clark County, Nevada courtroom on Monday. Spokane investigators now has 30 days to get Jones from the Clark County jail and bring him back to Spokane to face charges.
