CHENEY, Wash. — Cheney Public Schools is asking the community to consider a bond that would help improve schools and acquire land to add more schools in the district.
The $72 million bond would help Cheney Public Schools invest in growth projects, safety and security and student health and facility improvement at their schools.
The majority of the bond ($61,793,000), would go toward growth projects for the school district, which includes new construction of an additional elementary school in Airway Heights and acquiring land for a future elementary school, secondary school and an additional centralized transportation site.
$6,750,000 of the bond would go toward district-wide student health and facility improvement. This would include the following:
- LED lighting upgrades
- Expanding kitchens at Windsor and Salnave Elementary Schools
- HVAC upgrades at Windsor, Salnave, Betz and Sunset Elementary Schools and Cheney High School
- District-wide plumbing upgrades
- Interior updates at Betz, Sunset, and Windsor Elementary Schools and Cheney High School
