Deadly Gray Fire caused by Inland Power, community calls it a “traumatic experience”

MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. — The Gray Fire that destroyed hundreds of homes and killed one person in Medical Lake last year was caused by Inland Power, according to the investigation report by the Department of Natural Resources.

In the report, DNR says the fire started by an arcing wire/connector on an Inland Power light on Gray Road. Sparks from the light started nearby grass on fire.

According to DNR, a neighbor where the fire started reported she called Inland Power multiple times to express concern about the light before the fire started. To the neighbor’s knowledge, Inland Power did not respond.
