Man shot and killed by Sheriff’s deputies identified

SPOKANE COUNTY – The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified the man who died as a result of the incident on North Calispel on Jan. 30.

55-year-old Richard Rogissart’s manner of death was homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Last Tuesday, police responded to the scene with information that a neighbor was being threatened by Rogissart. The neighbor said Rogissart had a baton and was threatening to kill him.

Police tried to get Roggisart to surrender out of his home but when he did not cooperate, deputies said they breached the front door of Roggisart’s home.

Almost immediately, deputies said Roggisart “aggressed them” and shots were fired.

Roggisart was pronounced dead on the scene.
