Felon arrested with firearms near Cannon Street Shelter

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department arrested a man Tuesday night for having two handguns near the Cannon Street Shelter.

SPD says they responded outside the shelter for a suspect possibly armed in a vehicle around 8:30 p.m. Police say the suspect matched the description of a murder suspect currently wanted.

According to SPD, the suspect drove away when officers arrived. They tried to pull him over, but the suspect and a female passenger ran from the vehicle.

Police say drone and officers searched the area and located the two hiding in nearby backyards.

SPD says 34-year-old Coby C. Adams had two handguns in his backpack and has multiple previous felony convictions. The woman was not charged.

Adams was booked into the Spokane County Jail for two counts of 1st-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
