The Spokane Police Department, working with the U.S. Marshalls, arrested homicide suspect Gunnar M Doughty, 32. Doughty was wanted for second degree murder related to a shooting on February 2nd. The victim, Dylan McCorkle, 30, was found dead on North Hamilton Street.

The arrest occurred yesterday at 4:00 PM at a residence on N. Morton. After confirming Doughty was in the house, the police evacuated other adults and children. Doughty did not surrender when asked.

The Spokane Police Department responded by deploying its SWAT Team, Hostage Negotiation Team, Aerial Support Unit, Explosive Disposal Unit, and investigators. Despite several verbal attempts to get Doughty to surrender, he refused. The police used drones and robots to search the house.

They found Doughty in a crawl space within the house. To encourage his surrender, the police used tear gas. This strategy worked, and Doughty was arrested without further issues.

Doughty is now in Spokane County Jail, charged with second degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm. The investigation into the homicide continues, led by Major Crimes detectives.
