Spokane Public Library asking voters to renew library levy on February ballot

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Public Library is asking voters to renew the levy that funds library operations and services.

If renewed, the current rate of seven cents per $1,000 of assessed property value would continue for the next three years.

This is an existing tax and will not change. On average, a median-priced home would contribute around $28 per year.

If the levy renewal passes, the library can continue to open seven days a week, allow access to meeting spaces and community events, and support STEM and art education for kids.

If the levy renewal fails, the library could see diminished operations and services, reduced days or hours of service,  less access to free community space and reduced purchasing of materials.
