Monday’s shooting was the fourth time law enforcement have shot someone in just two weeks, prompting community members to ask for more accountability from law enforcement.

People say they want transparency from law enforcement when these shootings happen, especially when community members’ lives are on the line.

Toya Lee got video just moments before two Spokane Police officers fired at Venegas.

“I heard a guy saying, ‘I don’t want to hurt you, I don’t want to hurt you,'” Lee said. “And once he said that, [I] started recording immediately.”

Lee says she saw Venegas following someone down the street, holding a phone in one hand and a knife in the other.

In the video, you can see at least four police officers run toward Venegas.
