After being ranked in the top 10 of the AP Poll earlier this season, to now sitting on the bubble to make the 2024 NCAA Tournament, the Gonzaga Bulldogs’ 2023-24 campaign has been quite the roller coaster.
With the ups and downs follows a lot of noise from the outside, as fans and prognosticators alike ponder if Gonzaga can keep its NCAA Tournament appearance streak alive. A 64-62 loss at home to Saint Mary’s pushed the Bulldogs off the bubble momentarily, as they dropped to 0-5 in Quad 1 games and fell two games back of the Gaels for first place in the West Coast Conference standings.
A week after the setback, Gonzaga drowned out the noise, came together as a whole and pulled off an 89-85 upset over then-No. 17 Kentucky at Rupp Arena. The win put Mark Few’s team back into postseason discussion, even if it didn’t secure a spot in the 68-team field entirely, with six more WCC games left including road games at San Francisco in the Chase Center (Feb. 29) and at Saint Mary’s (March 2).
