Spokane police arrest man for shooting at group of people in Riverfront Park

SPOKANE, WA — A 25-year-old man was arrested for shooting multiple times at a group of people in Riverfront Park Tuesday night.

According to the Spokane Police Department, multiple people reported gunshots in Riverfront Park just before midnight near the Howard Street Bridge.

SPD said a group of young people told officers they were approached by another group on scooters.

Officers said at one point, one of the men on scooters pulled a gun and began to fire at the other group but no one was hit.

SPD was able to quickly locate the suspect, Dominick Atchinson, at Sprague Avenue and Lincoln Street. A gun was recovered.

Atchinson faces five counts of first-degree assault. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail.
