Man arrested for stealing $150,000 worth of items from Spokane business

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A man accused of stealing roughly $150,000 worth of items from a Spokane business was arrested on Tuesday, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 10, SCSO responded to a reported burglary at Wemco Manufacturing on West Thorpe Road near Geiger Heights.

According to an employee, a large number of tools, equipment, a Ford F550 truck and other valuable items had been stolen.

During the investigation, deputies determined the suspect had driven a Dodge Ram through the business’ gate to gain access to the property.

Deputies tracked the truck’s license plate and pulled it over on West Whistsalks Way near Spokane Falls Community College.

The driver was identified as 36-year-old Matthew R. Dobson.

At the time, deputies were not able to establish probably cause for the burglary, but Dobson was arrested for driving on a suspended license. He was later released due to jail overcrowding.

After further investigation, detectives served a warrant at a home near Stevens Street and Queen Avenue in north Spokane and found several stolen items from the Wemco burglary.
