Woman arrested for stabbing former roommate in downtown Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – A woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing a former roommate on West Second Avenue Sunday afternoon.

21-year-old Lavender L. Port is now facing charges of first degree assault for the stabbing.

According to Spokane Police, the victim saw Port and another man in an alleyway near the Browne Street viaduct. The victim said he used to share an apartment with the couple.

After a fight, the man punched the victim. SPD said the victim threw his backpack at the couple in hopes they would leave him alone.

SPD said Port pulled a knife from the victim’s backpack and stabbed him.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Port was found and arrested Monday morning and booked into jail.
