Spokane Police K9 Unit thanks beloved dog for service

SPOKANE, Wash. — A beloved dog in Spokane Police Department’s K9 Unit retired on Sunday.

According to SPD, Haywire worked as a patrol dog for over five years and had 1,121 deployments.

After a solid career, he is now retired and will live at home with his handler who was recently promoted to Sergeant.

“Thank you for all that you’ve done, Haywire. You and your handler’s unique personality/presence in our unit will be greatly missed,” wrote SPD K9 Unit in a Facebook post.
