SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The man who crashed his car into the side of the Spokane Valley Mall early Wednesday morning was reportedly having a mental health crisis, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle went into the wall of the JCPenney around 1:30 a.m. creating a sizable hole.
SCSO says the vehicle was registered to a man who previously threatened to self-harm.
The man had to be extricated from the vehicle and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The sheriff’s office says it has probable cause to charge the man with malicious mischief but has not arrested him so he can seek mental health treatment.
