Market Street construction straining local businesses

SPOKANE, Wash.  As the northbound lane of Market Street remains closed, local businesses are feeling the impact.

One such business, Pawn 1, a decades-old pawn shop located just off Market Street, has experienced a notable decline in foot traffic. The ongoing construction outside their shop has made it difficult for customers to access their parking lot, leading to a substantial drop in sales.

Chris Walsh, an employee at Pawn 1, said, “I’d say about 30-40% slower than usual. Just people aren’t able to get into our parking lot as easily.”

Despite the construction, businesses along this stretch of Market Street remain open. However, customers will need to find alternative routes to reach them.
