Spokane International Airport receives over $18 million for reconstruction projects

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane International Airport will soon receive over $18 million in funding for reconstruction projects, announced Senator Maria Cantwell on Sunday.

The $18,162,037 in funding was granted to Spokane International Airport through the United States Airport Improvement Program, which was boosted to $4 billion per year in the 2024 FAA Reauthorization Act, signed by President Biden in May.

Spokane International Airport is one of seven airports around Washington to receive funds totaling over $48 million.

The funding for Spokane will go toward design and reconstruction of the airport’s taxiway ‘A’.

“Spokane is on the move. Last year, the airport welcomed a record 4.13 million travelers. With the opening of the new terminal building, this funding will help rehabilitate runway infrastructure to accommodate this added capacity at the airport,” said Senator Cantwell.

Other airports on the list are Tri-Cities Airport, which will receive over $12 million and Seattle-Tacoma International, which will receive over $5 million.
