Firefights knock down early morning house fire in northwest Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — Two people and a dog were displaced from their home due to a house fire in Spokane early Friday morning.

According to the Spokane Fire Department, firefighters responded to a home on W. Fleming Place near Rowan Avenue around 3 a.m.

Firefighters said the fire started in the basement and spread to the rest of the home.

Two people and their dog were able to safely get out.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
