Level 1 (Get Ready) evacuations for wildfire burning in Wellpinit

WELLPINIT, Wash. — Fire crews responded to a wildfire in Wellpinit on Sunday afternoon, according to Spokane Tribal Police.

Around 4 p.m. on September 22, firefighters responded to a small wildfire near Castle Rock Creek Road in Wellpinit, not far from the Columbia River.

STP said the fire was burning on roughly 10 acres and moving northeast.

As of 4:45 p.m., Level 1 (Get Ready) evacuations are in place for the surrounding area.

Officers and rangers are notifying homeowners near the fire.
