Two arrested for suspected drug trafficking in Rathdrum

RATHDRUM, Idaho — Two people were arrested in Rathdrum Friday for suspected drug trafficking.

According to the Rathdrum Police Department, a car was stopped at the Highway 41 and Highway 53 interchange.

An investigation found meth, drug paraphernalia, and over $62,000 in cash in the car.

The driver, Benjamin Barnhart of Spirit Lake, was arrested for trafficking drugs and possessing drug paraphernalia with intent to use.

The passenger, Sara Mallet from Newport, was arrested for possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver and outstanding felony fugitive warrants out of Washington.
