SPOKANE, Wash. — Protesters are expected at a Christian conference at the Spokane Convention Center on Friday.
The Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest the “Be Bold for Jesus” conference, following their earlier protest targeting a transgender athlete competing at East Valley High School.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has labeled the church a homophobic and anti-Semitic hate group.
To minimize disruptions, students at East Valley Middle and High School were dismissed 90 minutes early.
The district’s superintendent had advised students and parents to avoid the protesters.
