Flags in Spokane to be flown half-staff for firefighter who died of cancer

SPOKANE, Wash. — The City of Spokane will be flying flags half-staff Saturday in memory of a Spokane firefighter who passed from cancer last month.

Spokane Firefighter Josh Rhoads died October 24 after a five-year battle with cancer. Rhoads’ funeral service is also this Saturday.

Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown issued the directive Friday morning saying, “Firefighter Rhodes passed away last week after a courageous battle with cancer. He was beloved by his colleagues and embodied the spirit of teamwork. Firefighter Rhodes will be missed.”

The city encourages residents to fly their own flags half-staff Saturday as well.
