SPOKANE, Wash. — A church on Spokane’s South Hill was vandalized on Thanksgiving.
Plymouth Congregational Church, near South Walnut Street and 8th Avenue in Spokane, said they found their outdoor sign spray painted over on Saturday.
Neighbors across the street from the church said they first saw the spray painted sign on Thanksgiving morning.
The electronic sign displays a message reading “We Stand With Israel” along with a Star of David.
The word “genocide” was spray painted over the sign.
“This is nothing new, not even exactly a surprise. It needs to stop. We prayed this morning for the person who did this,” said Janet Ahrend, Reverend of Plymouth Congregational Church.
This is the second time Plymouth Congregational Church has been the target of vandalism.
Last spring, their paper signs displaying support for Israel were also vandalized, prompting them to get the new digital signage.
The church reported the incident and are working with Spokane Police Department.
