There’s still a chance for a last-minute White Christmas – Matt

There’s still a chance for a White Christmas

A storm arriving late Christmas Day could bring measurable snow before the clock strikes midnight

The next winter storm arrives in the Inland Northwest late Christmas Day. It will be late enough that the weather won’t be an issue most of the day, but early enough that we could see snow fall before the clock strikes midnight. Whether you’re coming home from Christmas dinner or celebrating the first night of Hanukkah, be mindful of winter driving conditions or avoid road travel until Thursday if possible.

What We’re Tracking

  • Cool and calm Christmas Morning
  • Snow begins in the Cascades around midday
  • Afternoon rain or snow across Central Washington
  • Wet weather reaches Spokane and Coeur d’Alene in the evening
  • Light snow or a winter mix is possible to start, followed by a switch over to rain between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.
  • The snow forecast is highly variable because of this. Amounts could range from a light dusting up to 2″ for the I-90 corridor.
  • Snow will melt into slush by the Thursday morning commute
