SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane’s police department has experienced its deadliest year in more than a decade, with six fatal use-of-force incidents recorded in 2024. According to department records (chart can be seen below), the only year with more police shootings was 2017, when seven individuals were shot, though two of them survived.
