SPOKANE, Wash – It’s the end of an era on Spokane’s south hill: Gordy’s Sichuan Cafe is closing its doors.
The restaurant posted the announcement to Facebook Thursday, saying it will be open the rest of the day, Friday and possibly Saturday.
“From the first plate served to the last, we’ve been honored to welcome you all into our restaurant, share in your celebrations, and be a small part of your lives,” the post read. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the years – your love and loyalty meant the world to us. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we will forever cherish the memories we’ve created together.”
Gordy’s previously tried to switch to take-out only, but cited community support for being able to reopen the dining room.
At the time, the owner said they couldn’t keep up with rising food costs and the unpredictable nature of the business.
The restaurant near 29th and Grand Blvd has been open for more than 20 years.
