SPOKANE, Wash. — Three construction projects scheduled to begin the week of Monday, May 12, are expected to impact Spokane commuters in the West Hills and Cliff-Cannon neighborhoods.
Below is a breakdown of the different construction projects set to begin on Monday, May 12.
West Hills Neighborhood Construction Project
- Where: Sunset Boulevard between Cannon Street and Government Way
- What: Grind and overlay project
- When: Monday, May 12 to Tuesday, May 27
- What to expect: Lane reductions, flaggers, and slowdowns for commuters on West Sunset Boulevard between South Cannon Street and South Government Way just west of downtown Spokane
- Drivers not driving for specific needs are encouraged to use alternate routes like I-90 and West Riverside Avenue
Cliff Cannon/Rockwood Neighborhood Construction Project
- Where: 13th Avenue at South Grand Boulevard
- What: pedestrian improvements, pedestrian rapid flashing beacon on 13th Avenue at South Grand Boulevard, just south of Manito Park
- When: Monday, May 12 to Tuesday, May 20
- What to expect: 13th Ave. will be closed between Grand Boulevard and Division Street
- South Grand Boulevard at 13th Avenue will have lane reductions at the intersections, slowdowns for northbound and southbound drivers
Cliff-Cannon Neighborhood Construction Project
- Where: Cedar Street at 12th Avenue
- What: Installing pedestrian refuge island with rapid flashing beacon, other pedestrian safety items
- When: Tuesday, May 13 to Tuesday, June 3
- What to expect: Cedar Street to northbound traffic at 12th Avenue will be closed
- Cedar Street between 13th Avenue and 11th Avenue will have lane reductions, and slowdowns for northbound and southbound drivers
- 12th Avenue will be closed between Adams Street and Walnut Street
The City of Spokane said drivers and other commuters are encouraged to slow down in construction areas, allow for extra time and look for detours.
