SPOKANE, Wash. — A woman accused of setting fire to trees and buildings in a north Spokane neighborhood will not face an arson charge, at least for now.
Spokane County court commissioner Jerry Scharosch said police investigation may later lead to a higher felony charge, but for now, Jessie Green will only face first-degree reckless burning, a Class C felony.
Friday, as Green, 34, had her first court appearance, people living on the damaged stretch of street began cleaning up their charred pieces and possessions, hauling them out by the truckload.
