SPOKANE, Wash. — Two construction projects are expected to impact drivers in downtown Spokane and the East Central neighborhood starting Monday, May 19.
Here is what you need to know as you head out the door for your Monday morning commute, according to the City of Spokane.
Downtown Spokane Construction Project
- Where: Washington Street and Stevens Street between Spokane Falls Boulevard and 3rd Avenue
- What: Washington and Stevens corridor lane reductions as part of the final phase of the Washington Street and Stevens Street Corridor improvements, grind and overlay work
- When: Monday, May 19 through July
- What to expect:
- Southbound Stevens Street work will start between Sprague Avenue and 1st Avenue. Northbound Washington Street work will start between Main Street and 1st Avenue.
- Lane reductions will be in place on both Stevens Street and Washington Street throughout the project. Drivers should expect slower speeds and traffic delays.
East Central Neighborhood Construction Project
- Where: Hartson Avenue between Freya Street and Havana Street near Frances Scott Elementary
- What: Safe Routes to Schools pedestrian improvement project
- When: Monday, May 19 through Friday, May 23
- What to expect:
- Hartson Avenue will be closed between Freya Street and Havana Street
- Drivers will be detoured to 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. Freya Street and Havana Street will remain open to north and southbound traffic.
- Local residential access on Hartson Avenue will be maintained.
