“We were asked to leave, we didn’t have bathing suits’ – Idaho woman donates after heartbreak as kid

SPOKANE, Wash. — Our annual ‘Help Me Hayley’ Make-A-Splash Swimsuit Drive is entering its final week. The effort is a partnership with the Spokane Parks Foundation, and works to ensure every child in our community who is needs a new swimsuit this summer can get one.

We all have our why when it comes to the reason we give when it comes to this drive. For a Post Falls woman, her why dates back nearly six decades to a hot summer day.

“My parents got divorced….we moved into an apartment and it had a pool,” said Brenda. “Oh let me tell you…we three girls were so excited. We got our shorts (and tee-shirts) on and jumped in. We were promptly asked to leave (because) we didn’t have bathing suits.”…
