Northside Transfer Station/Recycling Center in North Spokane closed, evacuated due to ‘something’ releasing gas

COLBERT, Wash. — The Northside Transfer Station/Recycling Center was closed and evacuated on Thursday after “something” that was releasing gas from the back of a truck.

According to Spokane County, the Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System closed the center at the intersection of Elk-Chattaroy Road and Highway 2 after a customer reportedly drove a pickup into the recycling center.

Spokane County said “something” in the back of the truck started to release a white gas. The transfer station was then evacuated and closed…
