June climate outlook: Summer arrives early this year

SPOKANE, Wash.–  Forecasts for early June are backing up predictions from the U.S. Climate Prediction Center (CPC) of a fast start to summer with dry and warm conditions.

Odds are at 45% for Spokane and Coeur d’Alene to experience a dry June and 50% for a warm June, according to the CPC. The odds of a wet June are only 25%, and there’s a 17% chance that this month will be cooler than average.

So far, 4 News Now forecasts for early June don’t show any sign of rain. A hot, stable pattern takes over our weather late this week and will stay the dominant weather feature in the Pacific Northwest through next Wednesday. Get our latest forecast here…
