SPOKANE, WA – A false report of an active shooter at Riverfront Park caused panic and briefly delayed the city’s Fourth of July fireworks celebration late Friday night.
According to the Spokane Police Department, the erroneous report began circulating shortly after 10 p.m. during the fireworks display. Authorities believe a possible physical altercation near the park’s clocktower may have led to the confusion.
