Pines Road in Spokane Valley closing for one day for Rail Bridge construction

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Drivers in Spokane Valley should prepare for a full day of closure on Pines Road on Thursday, July 10, as part of ongoing construction for a major infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety.

The closure will last from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will affect the stretch of Pines Road between Pinecroft Road and Trent Avenue.

The City of Spokane Valley says the temporary shutdown will allow BNSF Railway Company to install an underground support system, known as piling, which will form the foundation for one of two new parallel rail bridges in the area. The City says the piling work is a crucial step in the larger Pines Road and Trent Avenue Grade Separation project, which will ultimately route vehicle traffic beneath the rail line to eliminate train-vehicle conflicts and reduce congestion…
