Man accused of setting 6 fires in downtown Spokane appears before judge

SPOKANE, Wash. — The man suspected of starting six different fires in downtown Spokane on Tuesday morning appeared before a judge on Thursday.

37-year-old Chad Horne was arrested by Spokane police on Wednesday evening on six charges of second-degree arson, and police say Horne was known to them after he was convicted on two counts of reckless burning in December of 2024.

Court records show that after several hearings throughout the summer of 2024, it was decided in August that Horne needed in-person treatment for substance-induced psychotic disorder, borderline personality disorder, and substance use disorders for 90 days…
