SPOKANE, Wash. — A concrete picnic shelter in Spokane’s Lincoln Park received a colorful makeover recently.
According to the city, people gathered last month to celebrate the unveiling of a new mural covering the shelter. The mural was designed by local artist Corrina Ren and painted with the help of over 400 Franklin Elementary students, family members and staff.
The new mural features various plants and animals found in the parks such as turkeys, deer, frogs, dragonflies, elderberries and arrowleaf balsamroot. The outside of the shelter shows a dog walker seeing a South Hill turkey and a child examining a ladybug under a magnifying glass. The inside of the shelter shows an interactive pond painted on the floor with a circular maze surrounded by aquatic life…
